Guidepoint Intros GPS Theft Recovery System for Motorcycles and Powersports Vehicles

By Jyothi Shanbhag, TMCnet Contributor

GuidePoint Systems, a telematics supplier, has unveiled a new version of its GPS-enabled theft protection system for motorcycles and powersports equipment.

The latest powersport theft-recovery system, GPS Xtreme, is water-resistant and dustproof and features the latest in advanced power management.

Its expanded water-résistance features enable the device to be submerged in water up to 30 minutes and its dustproof feature helps in protecting the electronic components from even the tiniest particles of dust.

In addition, the latest advanced power-management feature in the system helps the unit to draw as little as 50 microamps of power without sacrificing a moment's protection. If the unit senses motion, for example, it immediately enters full-power mode and sends an alert to Guidepoint's 24/7/365 response center.

"Theft of motorcycles and powersports equipment is an epidemic," Guidepoint CEO Rand Mueller said.

Mueller also noted that the company has designed the new GPS Xtreme solution to protect against thieves by making it the most advanced system on the market in terms of reliability, durability and the latest in GPS technology.

“By combining it with our 24/7/365 response centers, we can respond to thefts and tampering quickly and with pinpoint accuracy," Mueller said.

The company was also recently in news for introducing Guidepoint Connect, an in-vehicle Bluetooth system that offers hands-free cell phone, integrated music control and emergency services/roadside help at the touch of a button. The four-button unit, designed to be mounted on the steering column, combines the latest in Bluetooth technology with Guidepoint's safety and convenience services for drivers.
