Hemisphere GPS and CLASS Agrosystems Launch Outback Sts in Europe

By Shamila Janakiraman, TMCnet Contributor

Hemisphere GPS and CLASS Agrosystems have announced the launch of Outback Sts in Europe. CLASS Agrosystems will be providing a customized version of the Hemisphere GPS Outback Sts guidance system named COPILOT TS.

COPILOT TS features 16 languages as required in the European market including Romanian, Russian, Ukrainian and Lithuanian, said CLASS and Hemisphere GPS sources, from Agritechnica 2009 in Hanover, Germany.

“As Hemisphere GPS’ distribution partner in Europe, CLAAS Agrosystems is pleased to have the opportunity to introduce Outback Sts to our customers,” said Dr. Michael Quinckhardt, CEO of CLAAS Agrosystems, in a release.

“We will utilize our strong distribution network to bring this superior product to market. The results will be beneficial to the European farmer, and to both companies. We look forward to continuing a strong long-term relationship with Hemisphere GPS,” added Quinckhardt.

Outback Sts or S touch screen is a new addition to the situational awareness and data management tools from the Outback Guidance product line. The Outback Sts features a 7 inch, high resolution color touch screen and it electronically integrates Outback Steering Guide. It uses GPS data and specific job details which are used to provide real time job data and precision guidance.

Also several easy-to-use guidance patterns and the ability to set and adjust guidance lines are included. Outback Sts has job management options such as setting perimeters, dropping mark flags, creating job templates, and recording job-specific notes such as the type of crop, the wind direction, and temperature.

The information can be stored on the system internal memory or the data can be transferred through a USB port. Such optimal features are powered by Crescent, an advanced patented GPS receiver technology from Hemisphere GPS, said company sources.

Kip Pendleton, vice president and general manager of agriculture for Hemisphere GPS, said he was pleased with the alliance with CLASS as it offers optimized products for use in farms throughout the world.

He also said that CLAAS products and solutions help companies operate and grow their business catering to the precision needs of customers they serve.
