DDS Wireless International Inc., a provider of application software for multiple vertical markets within the transportation industry that was formerly known as Digital Dispatch Systems, has reportedly received follow-on orders for its iPilot 8000 Mobile Data Terminals, from Taxi G7, one of its long-term customers in Europe who is said to be Europe's reputed Taxi Fleet Operators.

 

The iPilot 8000 is said to be a feature-rich, highly integrated touchscreen mobile computer specifically designed to meet the requirements of mobile fleet applications. Built on an XScale processor and Microsoft (News - Alert) Windows CE .NET operating system, the iPilot 8000 is said to offer an efficient open platform for graphical navigation map and application integration.

 

The order is valued at more than $600,000, and is said to be a similar sized order delivered in the second quarter. The company expects to deliver the MDTs to G7 before the end of the year.

 

In addition, DDS Wireless's OEM business unit, DW Digital Wireless, has received another order for 275 Vector 530's MDTs from Emcom, a reputed wireless communications supplier in South Africa. The order is pursuant to a new two year supply agreement Emcom has signed with Eskom, the leading Electricity provider in South Africa, to continue installing MDT's into their fleet of over 5,000 vehicles.

 

The Vector 530 is said to be a powerful mobile data terminal designed for text oriented display with easy-to-use keypad and function keys. As stated, it offers important features such as satellite GPS and wireless networking for today's vehicle dispatch applications. Reportedly, till date, Emcom has installed approximately 1,400 of the Company's MDTs into Eskom's fleet. The Company also expects to ship this order before year-end.

Officials said that the firm has been utilizing DDS's technologies to build its business for more than 8 years. To date, G7 has installed more than 3,500 iPilots from Digital Dispatch as it upgrades from previous generation MDTs purchased from the Company. With a fleet of more than 5,000 vehicles, G7 belongs to an elite group of large European taxi companies that rely on the Company's system software or wireless devices.
