STM Unveil SuperPico Package for Small GSM Operators

STM Group (News - Alert), a satellite networking and GSM solutions provider, announced the introduction of its new IP-Based SuperPico Solution Package meant for GSM operators. The new package will enable the GSM operators to install and manage a total IP based communication network with Mobile Switching Center, Media Gateway (News - Alert), Pre-Paid Billing System, and Network Management System with reduced investment.

The starter package offered by STM will allow the new and existing operators to cater the need of about 10,000 prepaid users using IP-based solutions. The package allows easier gradual up-gradation to provide GSM services 4 million plus users from a number of BTS locations.
 
The GSM base stations that have power problems in employing the new IP-Based SuperPico Solution Package can be advantageously run the systems utilizing economical solar power. STM as well provides the option of installing a total private satellite backhaul network.
 
While announcing the package Richard Forberg, vice president of marketing & business development for STM Group, said “We expect strong interest in this package for network expansion in developing countries.” He further clarified that “Many operators serving markets characterized by low ARPU are unsure how to reduce their CAPEX and OPEX (News - Alert) per new subscriber relative to the rapidly falling ARPU in low income areas. Rather than expanding in the traditional way, it is much better to serve these areas with a new IP-based picocell system.”
 
STM is a globally known source for satellite and cellular wireless set-ups and also offers services for installing mobile and fixed IP-based telephone systems, data and multimedia related appliances. The company provides a range of products under SatLinkseries to offer MF-TDMA, bandwidth-on-demand satellite backhaul solutions conforming to global standards. STM also deals with designing of networks, ready to use product solutions and project executions.
 
The new IP-Based SuperPico Solution Package is designed to cater the requirement of new entrants and tiny operators besides the bigger operators. Deploying of the package is expected allow the operators to save money spent on regular annual maintenance and on purchase of new GSM equipments when enlarging the network locations.
