Telular Inks Agreement with Telefonica Mexico to Offer Remote Tank Monitoring Solutions

By Anshu Shrivastava, TMCnet Contributor

Telular, a provider of wireless communications technology, has announced that Telefónica México will private label its TankLink monitoring solution under the brand name TeleControl-Gas.

TeleControl-Gas is positioned to strengthen the business relationship between propane distributors and consumers by validating orders and product delivery.

Cellular network operator Telefónica México said that it selected the TankLink solution as part of its long-term strategy to offer wireless data-centric services to a larger commercial customer base.

“TankLink’s remote tank monitoring solution allows us to immediately use our GSM network to offer our commercial customers, who strive for greater efficiency and security, a broader set of services,” said Sergio Chueca, sub director of value added services and content at Telefónica México.

The new offering integrates each company’s strengths. It combines TankLink’s telemetry devices and secure Web portal with Telefónica México’s reliable nationwide network and local sales experience, said company officials.

“Our collaboration will ensure that their customers will be able to leverage our machine-to-machine (M2M) technology and their local wireless expertise,” said Joe Beatty, president and CEO at Telular (News - Alert), in a statement. “This agreement spotlights the extensibility of our machine to machine (M2M) architecture, not only between industries but across borders.”

Powered by TankLink, the TeleControl platform can be extended to enable bulk inventory monitoring for any industries wanting to improve their operations, said company officials.

TankLink remote inventory management solutions deliver 24/7 tank level information that is necessary for efficient and cost-saving decisions. Company officials said that TankLink helps suppliers, distributors and production managers increase operations productivity and effectiveness. Currently, TankLink monitors various types of bulk inventory on more than 16,000 tanks in the United States.

Chicago-based Telular provides wireless security, M2M, voice, high-speed data and fax solutions for business and residential customers. Earlier in August, the company announced that its completed line of fixed cellular offerings is available on Verizon (News - Alert) Wireless’ network.
