Eutelsat Cements Relationship with Albania's Tring Communications
By Anil Sharma, TMCnet Contributor
Tring Communications, a subsidiary of Albanian Satellite Communications, or “ASC,” and one of the television and telecommunications service providers in Albania, has further strengthened its relationship with Eutelsat (News - Alert) Communications through the signature of a distribution contract for the Tooway consumer broadband service.
The Tooway contract was signed with Skylogic, Eutelsat's broadband affiliate.
Eutelsat officials said that Tring Communications selection of the Tooway broadband service enables the company to deliver broadband across Albania, notably to homes and businesses in areas beyond range of its terrestrial infrastructure.
According to Tooway officials, which operates totally independently from telephony networks, is the first satellite offer in Europe to provide broadband speeds and costs comparable to ADSL.
The company officials claimed that the service consists of a satellite dish and a modem connected to a PC, giving customers immediate broadband access with 3.6 Mbps on the downlink to user PCs and 384 kbps on the uplink to Eutelsat's EUROBIRD 3 satellite.
In 2010, the company officials pointed out that Eutelsat will expand Tooway with additional broadband access speeds up to 10Mbps.
“Tring Communications sets the standards for providing voice and data communication to the Albanian community by empowering them with tools that meet the challenges in an ever-changing environment,” Arian Kraja, Tring partner, said, adding that investing in Eutelsat's state of the art satellite technology, and with a leading team of experts the company is able to offer high-quality services and meet the customer expectations.
Tring differentiates itself by offering consumers multiple communication services including the Internet, telephony and television all in one bill, saving consumers time and money while offering them a reliable service for their peace of mind, Kraja said.
ASC's (News - Alert) Tring Communications has also renewed and expanded its capacity on the W2 satellite with a multi-year contract signed with Eutelsat for broadcasting its Tring Digital pay-TV platform.
“We are delighted to take further our relationship with ASC, adding a consumer broadband capability to the broadcast service we already provide for Tring Digital's multi-channel platform,” Michel de Rosen, CEO, Eutelsat, said.
The dual service underscores Eutelsat's ambition to respond to requirements from communications service providers to deliver a full range of digital broadcast and broadband solutions so that they can reach out to homes beyond range of terrestrial networks and efficiently expand their user base, de Rosen added.
