By Anuradha Shukla, TMCnet Contributor
Xact Technology has reportedly partnered with ORBCOMM to provide comprehensive GPS tracking solutions and services in the market.
A DMC Worldwide company, Xact provides consumer electronics products and ORBCOMM (News - Alert) is a global satellite data communications company focused on two-way Machine-to-Machine communications.
Xact Technology recently launched XactTrax. This scalable GPS tracking solution has the ability to monitor the location of people, personal and commercial property and assets. According to a release, XactTrax leverages several innovations developed by ORBCOMM. This solution leverages ORBCOMM’s device management capabilities that enable over the air updating of 3rd party software and device firmware over a wide range of devices.
It also utilizes communications company’s multiple networks, including satellite, GSM and CDMA via a single interface as well as its Web-based subscriber management capabilities.
Bill Acevedo, vice president of business development, Xact Technology said that both companies are collaborating to deliver a suite of technologies. Their efforts are focused on creating the most complete and flexible M2M service solutions available.
A variety of solutions are offered including Xact's innovative and customizable Web portal, a scalable hardware platform, ORBCOMM's Network management and M2M enablement capabilities and multiple wireless network options.
Acevedo said that this partnership will aid enterprise, commercial, consumer and all M2M applications where the benefits of reliability, cost and time to market deliver significant advantages.
Marc Eisenberg, ORBCOMM's CEO, said that this partnership is going to be very fruitful because both companies compliment each other very well. He noted Xact's experience in designing, manufacturing and marketing products in the consumer space and said it qualifies the company as a capable partner.
According to Eisenberg, his company’s global satellite network, partner networks, service enablement platform and knowledge of the commercial space will help Xact to develop, deploy and manage M2M applications quickly and affordably.
To find out more about M2M communications, visit the M2M Evolution Conference. To be held Jan. 20 in Miami and collocated with ITEXPO East 2010, the M2M Evolution Conference will focus on how telemetry has been changing to take advantage of the Internet, where WAN and LAN systems were points of aggregation in the past today’s machines benefit from the ability to connect worldwide. And as the machines continue to look to network the wireless world represents a large growth opportunity for data communication.
