Harris Corporation, an international communications and information technology company, received a $78 million order to provide additional Falcon II AN/VRC-104 high-frequency tactical radio systems for use in U.S. Department of Defense Mine Resistant Ambush Protected All-Terrain Vehicles.
This order was placed by the U.S. Marine Corps Systems Command on behalf of the DoD's Joint MRAP program.
'Harris continues to provide the most reliable and secure beyond line-of-sight radio technology to this critically important program,' Steve Marschilok, president, department of defense business, Harris RF Communications, said in a statement.
Marschilok said that the company’s radios deliver life-saving communication capabilities in the most dangerous of missions for all types of MRAP vehicles.
“We are providing ongoing support for this program with our high-performance tactical radios and unmatched customer service,” he said.
Officials with Harris said that the AN/VRC-104 is a vehicular transceiver/amplifier that includes the AN/PRC-150(C ), a Type-1 high-frequency manpack radio.
Harris HF radios are in widespread use by all branches of the U.S. Department of Defense and allies around the world.
TMCnet in December reported that Harris Corporation has received a $228 million order from the U.S. Marine Corps to provide Falcon II AN/VRC-104 high-frequency radio systems for use in U.S. Department of Defense MRAP-All Terrain Vehicles.
Earlier in October TMCnet reported that Harris Corporation has received a $196.5 million contract from the Department of State Consular Affairs IT Services.
As part of the five-year contract, the company will support the U.S. Department of State, Bureau of Consular Affairs to deliver critical services to U.S. citizens domestically and overseas, and facilitate foreign visitors traveling to the United States.
Company officials said that Harris will support the Department of State’s Information Technology by providing installation, training, help desk and information technology services in support of 270 domestic and international consular operations.
