Modius' OpenData Platform Leverages RF Code's Sensor-Based Monitoring Solution
By Jayashree Adkoli, TMCnet Contributor
RF Code, Inc.’s wire-free environmental sensor-based monitoring solution has been integrated into Modius Inc.’s OpenData platform, according to company officials. The integrated solution, which is available now, is the first initiative that was developed from the form data center efficiency partnership between both the companies.
The wire-free active sensor-based software solution from RF Code not only monitors, but also alerts about a broad range of environmental factors, such as changes in temperature and humidity, sudden presence of dangerous conductive liquids, and more.
RF Code’s platform is tailored for real-time and active radio-frequency identification. With the help of this platform, customers will be able to know the location, movement, environmental status and history of each individual asset across its lifecycle instantly. Consequently, customers will be able to reduce costs, time intensity as well as compliance risk of a manual inventory.
San Francisco-based Modius offers unified monitoring and measurement solutions that track IT devices and delivers performance-based analysis of converged IT infrastructure. The company’s OpenData software platform enables users to manage the performance of IT devices and facilities infrastructure equipment across all enterprise business-critical sites, such as data centers, call centers, server closets, and mechanical yards.
With the integration of RF Code’s wire-free environmental sensor-based monitoring solution into Modius’s OpenData, the software platform is now able to accept environmental data directly from RF Code sensors. With this, customers can get a complete picture about the real-time status and performance of all their physical data center assets.
The combined or the integrated view includes both performance data collected by Modius directly from IT and facilities equipment, and also environmental data collected by RF Code sensors. This combined information is then used to help operators run more efficient and cost-effective data centers.
According to a press release, the complete solution can be delivered at very low cost and covers data centers of any size.
Craig Compiano, CEO of Modius, said, “Their open approach to integration has made it easy to extend the value of our OpenData solution by adding critical environmental information that affects the performance and availability of our customers’ physical assets.”
“Modius is an ideal partner for us,” said Mitch Medford, CEO RF Code. “They understand that monitoring and managing costly center infrastructure is a key component of reducing operating and capital costs. Integrating environmental information nicely complements the information OpenData already provides. It’s a perfect fit.”
