TCS Launches SwiftLink Tactical Transportable Tropo System
By Jai C.S., TMCnet Contributor
TeleCommunication Systems, Inc., or "TCS," a company specializing in mobile communication technology, in collaboration with Comtech Systems (News - Alert) Inc., a developer of troposcatter communications technology and a subsidiary of Comtech Telecommunications Corporation, has launched the SwiftLink Tactical Transportable Tropo or 3T system, a small and lightweight Troposcatter solution with Tropo technology.
This newly launched solution is said to enhance the TCS product portfolio by adding Beyond Line of Sight /BLOS capability to its Very Small Aperture Terminal or VSAT flyaway family.
As stated, TCS SwiftLink 3T ensures that users have access to long-haul, high-bandwidth, low-latency tactical communications. It uses a C-band feed to deliver troposcatter communications utilizing common modular VSAT platforms with multiple upgradeable frequency options.
The solution is currently made available with either TCS's 1.2M or 2.0 SNAP VSAT antennas and is said to be in compliance with the current frequency bands and operating diversity.
"The 3T system provides cost-effective, high bandwidth communications in a package that small teams can quickly and easily deploy," James Sprungle, vice president of government programs at TCS said.
"The TCS SwiftLink 3T combines advancements in modem and antenna technology that are the perfect complement to our existing SNAP VSAT product line. Both TCS and Comtech Systems have demonstrated past performance in developing and implementing communications systems that operate in the most adverse atmospheric conditions. The 3T represents a new industry standard at the cutting edge for tactical transportable Tropo products," Sprungle added.
With Comtech Systems' CS6716A tropo modem, the TCS SwiftLink 3T system is said to use dynamic bandwidth allocation to minimize operator set-up, resulting in less training, troubleshooting and configuration. Additionally, path analysis software tools with integrated planning maps also ensures mission-critical communication links are established enabling Warfighters a reliable, end-to-end high bandwidth solution.
Moreover, it also offers backwards interoperability with legacy tropo systems.
With nearly two-decade of experience in the industry, TCS is recognized as a trusted provider of communication technology solutions addressing the government's toughest technical challenges, under conditions that demand the highest level of reliability, availability and security. The company has been offering complete end-to-end managed services for converged voice, video and data satcom for seamless, highly secure connectivity between fixed sites and remote operations, including the SwiftLink family of deployable communications solutions.
